Before signing
Twelve questions that prevent almost every problem
Almost everything that goes wrong in an out-of-home campaign could have been asked before signing and was not. This is the list we use internally before passing a quote to a client. Use it even if you do not hire us.
The list
Four blocks, twelve questions
If the operator answers all twelve straight, you are dealing with a serious operation. If they dodge three or more, price is not your main problem.
About the location
- Which traffic direction sees this face?
- From what distance does it become legible?
- Are there trees, poles or signs obstructing it?
- Can you send a recent photo, not a render?
About availability
- Is it confirmed or merely likely for my dates?
- How long can you hold it without commitment?
- What happens if the current occupant extends?
About total cost
- Does the price include vinyl production and installation?
- Is it a fixed face or a rotating circuit?
- Is the period a month or a fortnight?
About execution
- What exact day does it go up and who tells me?
- Will you send an installation photo as proof?
The two answers that should raise a flag
"It is available" with no confirmation date
Likely availability and confirmed availability are not the same, and the difference shows up once you have already produced the vinyl. Ask in writing until what date they hold the space and what happens if the current advertiser renews. If there is no clear answer, it is not available.
A photo that is not from this year
A billboard's surroundings change: trees grow, buildings go up, new signs appear in front. A three-year-old photo may show a clear face that today is half obstructed. Ask for a recent photo and, if the budget justifies it, go and see it.
Or let us do it
We ask all twelve and return the answers
It is part of quoting: we go to operators with this list and hand you the options already verified and in a comparable format.
